Workflow Builder

The drag-and-drop canvas for building a workflow — drop step cards, connect them, configure each node, validate, preview, and save.

The Workflow Builder (/settings/workflows/[id]/builder) is the three-panel canvas behind every workflow template: a Steps palette on the left, the flow canvas in the middle, and a configuration panel on the right. Reach it from a template's Create & Open Builder, Edit, or View.

Build the flow

Drag a card from the Steps palette onto the canvas. Four step types are offered:

  • Decision — "Conditional branching" (the only step allowed more than one outgoing connection — one per branch).
  • Create Entity — "Create leg, entry, etc."
  • Show Form — "Ask operator for input".
  • Notification — "Email or in-app alert".

Every workflow runs between the fixed Start Workflow and Complete Workflow nodes. Drag from a step's handle to another step to connect them.

Configure, then commit

Select a step to open Configure on the right — its Name, Description, and step-specific settings, plus Duplicate Step and Delete Step. Select a connection to set its Label (and, from a Decision, its Decision outcome) or Delete Connection.

The toolbar holds the actions:

  • Validate — checks that "every step is connected and configured" and rings any problem nodes.
  • Preview — walks through the steps one at a time (Next / Stop) without running anything.
  • Save — persists the workflow. Saving is blocked until validation passes. There is no separate publish step; Save is what commits your changes, and a template becomes live when its active Switch is on in the gallery.

You can rename the workflow inline in the toolbar. System templates open with a Read-only (System Template) badge — Preview still works, but you must Clone one from the gallery to edit it.
